“The difference in the quality and range of mid-day meals has meant an increase in the numbers of children staying for lunch and nearly all staff use the service”.

"I am totally reliant on our consultants to oversee the operational and legislative requirements of our busy catering functions. It is an area I don’t have to worry about and always feel confident that Sue and Drew will find a solution and a way forward with positive results."

“Our School took it’s catering provision “in-house” in 2000 with the help of CMC and we have had an excellent working relationship with them for the past six years. All the team are very professional, friendly and helpful. Recently we revamped the school meals in line with our Healthy Eating Policy and have now achieved the Healthy Schools Standard. CMC helped us every step of the way, discussing menus with our Head Cook and holding training sessions where many delicious meals were produced! They have also worked for us when holding tasting sessions for parents and children alike. CMC have helped us keep our costs down by sourcing supplies at very competitive rates, and their fee is more than paid for by the savings and the flexibility we now have. With CMC the move from Direct Services catering to in-house catering has been smooth and trouble free."

We are a medium sized foundation secondary school. Several years ago after changing to Grant Maintained status, we employed an external catering company to provide the catering service for the school. For many reasons, the main being lack of transparency, we decided to take our catering "in-house" in 2004. We now are in full control of what we spend on the service we provide to cater for both staff and pupils of the school. To assist us in this exercise, we employed CMC on an annual contract.
CMC support our Catering Manager to:
- prepare the annual budget.
- complete month end and prepare a report.
- take an overview on food prices.
- assist with preparation of menus.
- carry out hygiene training as required.
- report to Governors as required.
- prepare healthy food policy for the school.
- assist with new guidelines on healthy eating.
Taking catering in-house with the support of CMC is very successful.
