Every school that we have worked with has had a positive outcome from the move to in-house catering. Here are some facts taken from our schools.

• Landywood Primary in Walsall had a 30% increase in the first week and have sustained this level ever since

• Lower Farm Primary School in Walsall have increased from 70 meals to 256 per day

• Gateacre Comprehensive in Liverpool have increased takings at morning break by 54% following an improved menu offer and facilities at their new school site

• St.Michael in the Hamlet Primary in Liverpool, have seen a 34% increase in meal uptake since taking their catering in house

• Rookery Primary, Birmingham, are serving 100 more meals each week than in April 2012, an increase of 8%

• At Stuart Bathurst Catholic High School, Sandwell, sales increased by 42% in 2014 compared to the same period in 2013. This has been achieved by rebranding the snack bar, improving the menu offer to pupils and extending the grab and go offers at lunch.

• At Perryfields High School, Sandwell, a year in the kitchen has seen fantastic results. The new Perry Diner, with its improved food choices, friendly environment and separate sandwich area has reaped a 28% increase in September 2014 compared to the same time last year.

After some dissatisfaction with our catering division, we invited providers to outline how they could meet our needs. CMC’s MD, Gary Stewart, created financial projections and showed us how to achieve our vision of lunchtime as an integral part of the day. It became evident that nutritional value and balanced meals were priority within the remit of ensuring financial viability. We ensured that CMC had the credibility to meet our requirements and examined with them the pitfalls.
CMC gave us the confidence to manage our catering in house with their support. In April 2017, we launched with new exciting menus. Guest chefs gave parents and pupils tasting opportunities. Our named consultant, Steve Evans, a genuinely valued colleague and regular face in school, is a real asset in supporting, advising and encouraging us.
Our first year has seen an increased uptake in meals which has allowed us to reinvest in the service. We now have a happier catering team who seek to go the extra mile - but most important, satisfied pupils, staff and parents.

I have no hesitation in recommending CMC.
Shaun Miles - Head of St. Luke’s CE Primary School
